From the producer of Delhi 2 Dublin comes a journey through modern Asian sounds.

Ten years in the making, and incorporating recording sessions with artists worldwide, 22° of Beatitude brings us to temples in Bhutan, to street corners in Tokyo and even to an intimate conversation between the artist and his grandmother. Breaking out of the dancefloor-driven format, Tarun's aim was to record as many of the sounds as possible, live, without the use of sample libraries. Each of these songs tells a story, and each story is a chapter in the artist's life. They are a decade-long evolution of sounds that blend culture, beats and bass. With influences ranging from Talvin Singh to Bassnectar, Tarun's music aims to break boundaries and bring people together. In April 2011 Tarun will be performing the album live across Canada with master percussionist/ producer Dave Sharma (Sub Swara, NYC), Vancouver-based glitch hop crew B.P.M., and a suite of custom made visuals, performed live by VJ Electrabelle.

Election day boost!

Ok, let’s say I’m not the happiest kid on the block. Harper makes me shiver.

So to take away the majority blues, I began looking over some of the fab photos taken by Rup Sidhu over the second half of the 22º of Beatitude tour. Some gorgeous stuff. I uploaded an album to FB here.

And then there was sleep…

Wow
What a crazy coupla a weeks of traveling with the Beatitude crew. A whole new family was born, and some revelatory music was created. So amazing to come together for this short time to play this music. The East Side leg of the tour (Ottawa, Mtl, TO) was less grueling, but just as fun as the West Side leg. Lotsa family time – we crashed with Nadia’s parents in Ottawa, and then mine in Mtl. Thanks moms and dads! TO was a quickie – we finished the last night with crappy pancakes at Mars Diner (I don’t know why we listened to Jaron’s advice on food – I’m not convinced he ever tastes a bite… he just inhales it). The true celebration was the 1-hour of sleep we got before our 7am flight back to vancity. Killer!
But so much fun…

22º of Beatitude in Hipstamatic!

Wow… what an amazing few days. Seeing a live show materialize out of a vision in my head. 4 days on the road to Nelson, Cumberland, Victoria, Vancouver. I think I got about 10 hrs sleep total. We finished last night with a great homecoming in Vancouver… So special. I think everyone I knew in the city came out! Here’s some pics that Suez and Rup took – the magik of hipstamatic. Man, everything looks so much cooler – beatific.

The magical visuals of electrabelle!

One of the best bits about touring with my friends is watching them do their stuff -- REALLY WELL! I’m so stoked to be bringing Suez (aka Electrabelle) along for a few dates on the tour -- she’ll be transforming rooms and environments with the visuals she’s made especially for this set. Tarun is fresh off the plane from Indonesia (with Delhi 2 Dublin), and back in the studio preparing all sorts of surprises for the April tour dates across Canada. He’ll be joined by master percussionist and global bass pioneer Dave Sharma (Sub Swara, NYC), Vancouver-based glitch hop duo B.P.M. (Nadia Chaney and Rup Sidhu), red-hot violinist Jaron Freeman-Fox, and longtime creative partner Electrabelle. Watch out!
