    sitar: a popular stringed instrument

    Raag Bhupali

arohi (ascending): Sa Re Ga Pa Dha Sa
avarohi (descending): Sa Dha Pa Ga Re Sa
bandish (fixed composition): composed of asthai and antara

    Mood and effect

    9 rasas (juices, or tastes):
Shringar: joy and love (erotic and/or divine)
    Karuna: pathos, compassion, sadness
    Vira: heroism, courage, valor
    Hasya: merriment, laughter
    Adbhuta: wonder, surprise
    Raudra: anger, rage
    Vibhasta: disgust
    Bhayanaka: fear
    Shanti: peace
